Workshop Manager - Construction Industry
This job entails managing a workshop that focuses 70% of the work on HGV trucks within the construction industry.
Advantage if you have experience with the following HGV brands: DAF/Iveco/Hino/Volvo and Man
Requirements:
Levels 1, 2 and 3. Apprenticeships completed with suitable qualification and combined practical work experience. Relevant Technical and Management experience required with machinery in the construction industry.
• Responsible for job allocation and job flow in the workshop including job scheduling and labour allocation for day-to-day operations.
• Responsible for the implementation and management of cost saving systems in relation to parts purchasing, vehicle repairs, fuel consumption, daily walk-around supervision, health & safety control.
• Overseeing the weekly rostering of staff and allocation of duties to mechanics.
• Plan and organise Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) and delegate specific tasks to mechanics.
• Assist with materials purchasing and quality checks.
• Ensure correct job numbers are used and that time records & parts costs are measured against each vehicle.
• Provide oversight and check job estimates.
• Ensure supplies are ordered for each job. Manage inward goods, checking quantities, dispatching goods and clearing invoices.
• Regularly report progress on each job and quickly communicate delays or concerns
with Management. Report on manpower overruns or shortfalls.
• Ensure that garage, yard and security health & safety procedures are followed at all times and all necessary annual tests and certificates are kept up-to-date.
• Ensuring the smooth flow of information between Garage & Transport departments at all times
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements for all garage operations.
• Maintenance & Scheduling of 12 Month Maintenance Plan for full fleet
• Conduct final check/test driving for all vehicles/trucks prior to release
• Leads a group of 10 mechanics and helpers with Hands-on supervision of all workshop activities.
Qualifying Questions:
Do you have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role?
Do you have full knowledge of MS Office – Excel; Word; Outlook etc
Do you have a SA/EU/UK Full Driving Licence?
Are you a pragmatic decision-maker with a good technical knowledge?
Do you have excellent communication skills?
Are you flexibile, willing to carry out variety of tasks/ activities requested and prepared to work additional hours as may be necessary from time to time?
Do you have experience with construction machines and heavy goods vehicle trucks?
Do you have experience with DAF/Iveco/Hino/Volvo and Man?
Company Benefits:
Annual remuneration is €47,500 based on a 40 hour week with an hourly rate of €22.83.
The company will assist with one way flight for candidate.
Shared housing provided at a minimum weekly rate.
